#45. Follow God's Way

I had gone through a tough period which I told no one about except God. Now, I am going to share with everyone.

Whenever I handle my ex boss company finance documents, my ex boss would tell me to keep what I see in strictest confidence. Then, I realised that my previous company involved embezzlement. I struggled for weeks deciding if I should quit. :( It is a career whereby I could earn tons of money and enjoy all the finest things in life.

It was like money and conscience VS God.

I kept praying to God for an answer. Then, God revealed the answer to me through so many different ways. I asked myself if continuing working here would please God. It was definitely against my conscience to work in a company like this. It is against my conviction. In The Ten Commandments, it states that “You shall not steal.” (Exodus 20:15). In addition, “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers – not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.” (1 Peter 5:2-4)

Finally, I took up the courage to quit three weeks ago. :)

I am jobless since then. I did not panic or have any intention to find a job. God kept telling me to spend my time to study His words intensely for now. I am glad that I listened to His words. It was so fruitful because every minute and second, it was about God. The bible verses that I memorised were used to help to strengthen me for the next few days. Amazing! God had it all planned out. :)

In the meantime, my mum kept pressuring me to get a job. However, God’s word “For I know the plans I have for you.” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) kept coming into my mind. I was totally calm about being jobless because I trusted and have faith in God to bring me wherever He leads to me despite my mum pressurising. But what troubles me most was that I couldn’t explain to my parent that I was follow what God told me to.

As days goes by, when I see my family, relatives or friends, they keep asking me about my job hunt etc. It was hard to even tell some of them that I was following what God told me to. The pressure I received from was immense. Some of them started to judge me. I was upset. Slowly, I started to have doubts in God’s plan. My thoughts started to waver if I should follow what God has told me to. :(

It was like man VS God.

I kept praying. Then, I recalled what Kenny Gan quoted: “Be still, and know that I am God;” (Psalm 46:10). Yes, I shouldn’t care about how men judge me. It is God who judges us on the day of judgement. God kept telling to me be patient and continue to trust Him because He knows what is best for me.

My perseverance to hang on to God words was tested. Out of the blue, Ruth wrote a card to me quoting: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4)

It is incredible how God strengthen my faith in Him. ^^

One day, I came across a company that is hiring people (after my unsuccessful interview being a teacher because the principal is a not a Christian). God was telling me to apply for this job. Being obedient to Him, I did that. I went through two interviews because the competition to get this job was really strong. The company had to call a lot of my lecturers and my past employers as my character referees. Yes, getting into this company is so not easy.

Suddenly, I felt that my energy was drained and my not-so-smooth job hunt. I was so tired after all the pressure that people have been giving me. I didn’t know following what God told me to can be so exhausting. I was lost and in despair that I cried out the Lord. :(

The next day (which was three days ago), the company called me to go for the third interview yesterday. I was excited but was quite reluctant too. It’s like this is the first time I had to go for interviews for three times and not knowing if I would be hired. To be honest, I was worried that there might have no Christian there.

I kept praying and received encouragement from God. When I reached the company, I was extremely elated to know that I was selected to be hired! What makes me happier is that my Associate Director is a Christian. Thank God! My friend told me that only people with quality get to be employed by this high end company. I am absolutely fortunate to work in this company. Thank God! :D

It can be strenuous to follow what God told you to do when man discouraged and not understand your faith in God. The process of following God is taxing beyond your imagination. However, the reward that you receive in the end will be so much better! Persevere and hang on to your faith in God. Your reward is great in heaven. ^_^

I remembered Aunty Cecilia once said: “Be stubborn in following the Lord.” The good thing about being stubborn is perseverance. Will any one of you will too?

#44. Facing The Giants & Faith Like Potatoes

I have two great movies to share which I watch recently.

1. Facing The Giants

Synopsis: A Christian high school football coach uses his undying faith to battle the giants of fear and failure. In six years of coaching, Grant Taylor has never led his Shiloh Eagles to a winning season. After learning that he and his wife Brooke face infertility, Grant discovers that a group of fathers are secretly organizing to have him dismissed as head coach. Devastated by his circumstances, he cries out to God in desperation. When Grant receives a message from an unexpected visitor, he searches for a stronger purpose for his football team. He dares to challenge his players to believe God for the impossible on and off the field. When faced with unbelievable odds, the Eagles must step up to their greatest test of strength and courage. What transpires is a dynamic story of the fight between faith and fear. "Facing the Giants" is a powerful experience for the whole family inspiring viewers to live with faith, hope, and love.

2. Faith Like Potatoes

Angus Buchan is a struggling hot tempered Scottish farmer who attempts to make a living during tumultuous times in South Africa. Angus Buchan (Frank Rautenbach), his pregnant wife Jill (Jeanne Wilhelm), and his three children settle down on a dilapidated plot of land in South Africa to build a life away from the mounting violence where they had just come. Unfortunately, Angus possesses his own turbulent lifestyle with bursts of anger and fits of rage when things don't go as smoothly as he plans. His life becomes consumed by his work and all the troubles that it seems to bring. At the prompting of his wife, he reluctantly attends a church service which awakens him to the spiritual void in his life and an awareness that his hard work is ultimately meant to serve God. This awakening then sets off an evangelical rollercoaster ride that ultimately and quite miraculously confirms and strengthens his walk of faith.

#41. God's Blessings

Yesterday morning, I was extremely happy.
Vivien and Wilfred approached me to be part of the committee for our year end camp. It is a church plus BB and GB camp (something like that, I think).

This is definitely a whole new experience for me.
Since secondary school, I have been organising every events, camps etc for my CCA or school. However, this time round, I am not organising for my CCA or school. It is something special which mean really a lot to me. I will be doing it for my God and tremendously excited to be serving my Lord. I am really looking forward to it. (Thinking of this, I am too excited that I can’t sleep now. Haha.)

I have so many ways in my mind that I want to do to serve my Lord. I am really glad to be granted this opportunity. I thank God for giving me this chance to use me as His instrument to serve and glorify Him. I will do my most best and trusting that God will do the rest. :)

Of course, I will be working with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Knowing them is absolutely one of the best things in my life. I am grateful that God has blessed me to be able to know this great bunch of brothers and sisters in Christ. :)

Lastly, I would like to share Psalm 51.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.

Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.

Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.

Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.

Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.

Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.

O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.

You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem.

Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

#38. 5-cents coins

What do you think two 5-cents coins can do to you?

Allow me to share a few examples.
1. Can pay to go to the washroom.
2. Can use it to pay for the stuffs you buy.

Basically, these are just some practical examples.

However, do you know two 5-cents coins can actually do more than that? It can actually cause harm to you. Why do I say so?

Maybe you would like to do the following example with me.

Take two 5-cents coins and put it right in front of your eyes. Did you realise something? Yes, your vision is blocked! You can’t see what is right in front of you.

Do you know why I am talking about two 5-cents coins? It is ok if you don’t because I am going to explain the logic behind it.

Satan is just like 5-cents coin. From far, 5-cents coin is really small but such small thing could actually block our entire vision. Satan is so teeny weenie small that it is incomparable to God. Despite being so insignificant, we often unknowingly allow Satan to stumble us.

God is far more powerful than Satan. So, why should we let Satan destroyed our lives? We must not submit ourselves to Satan if not you will fall into Satan trap. Never! If you fall into Satan trap, you will be further away from God. Don’t let this happen to you for you do not want to be cast into the lake of fire eternally. God is an Almighty God. He is powerful and sovereign. Trust in Him and He will lead you into the many blessings He has for you.

#37. Comparison

Let us do some comparison.

Opposite of short is tall.
Opposite of fat is thin.
Then, what is the opposite of Satan?

What is your answer?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
A. God
B. Nothing. Satan is incomparable to God.
C. Don’t know.

The correct answer is B. The opposite of Satan is NOTHING because Satan is INCOMPARABLE to God.

#34. So what if you are persecuted?

In the midst of the interview
Interviewer: Can you work during the weekends?
Me: Yes except Sunday.
Interviewer: Oh. Why?
Me: I have to attend church service on Sunday.
Interviewer: Fine then. What!? You are a Christian!? *in a sarcastic tone and with an unhappy and disgusted look on their faces*
Me: Yes.
Interviewer: You should have said that earlier. *with a unpleased look and tone*
Me: (In my heart, I was thinking: “You didn’t even ask me. So I need to go around telling all interviewers that I am a Christian? It doesn’t make any sense. Plus, in your resume application, you didn’t even ask anything about religion.”) Oh ok.
Interviewer: *still with an unpleased look and annoyed tone* you may leave now. If I call you, it means you are selected. If not, this will be the last time I see you.

The tension there was uneasy if you were there.

Is anyone of you thinking that I should not say to attend church service but it is my family day? I am sorry but it would be a lie if I say that. Lying is a sin. In the bible, it states: “Do not steal. Do not lie. Do not deceive one another.” (Leviticus 19:11))

I was quite upset because they hire people based on religion. It is sad to be in this ugly and sinful earth. However, I am sure that God will lead me to the many blessings He has for me. I will continue to follow wherever God leads me to. :)

However, it is a blessing to be persecuted. :)

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of their righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)

“strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.” (Acts 14:22)

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you.” (John 15:18-20)

“In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” (2 Timothy 3:12)

“Therefore, brothers, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith.” (1 Thessalonians 3:7)

But I tell you, we must pray for those who persecute us. :)

“But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44)

“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” (Romans 12:14
)

#31. Because it's God

I would like to share a few stories which I have encountered with God for these recent weeks.

As I have stated previously, I resigned from a finance company quite a number of days ago. It was a great working experience for me. Unfortunately, I chose to resign. Everything were good there but I didn’t had a “peace of mind” working there. I am no one to judge so I won’t even talk about it.

At first, I just treated as if nothing happened. Slowly as days passed by, I was struggling emotionally. I was in a dilemma if I should even continue working there. Then, I prayed to God. The next day, my prayer was answered and I knew that it was time for me to resign. Thank God! :)

From then now, I trusted God completely and follow wherever He led me to. As days passed by, Satan started to plant doubts on my trust in God. Unconsciously, I began to doubt myself if I should not trust in God. Fortunately, I was strong enough to get rid of these thoughts fast. Thank God. :)

Two days ago, I decided to try my luck to apply for jobs. Yesterday, I was offered to go for a job interview to become a teacher today. Yesterday, I was not worried about my interview today because God told me: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own.” (Matthew 6:34)

A dramatic series of events happened to me today while I was on my way to the interview.

Upon reaching the MRT, the rain was pouring heavily. Since I do not know the exact location of my interview venue, I went to ask an employee in the MRT control station.

Oh goodness! There were floods everywhere. I wanted to wait for the rain to stop. However, the rain was so heavy that it does not look like it is going to stop anytime so I decided to walk in the rain with my umbrella.

Within a few seconds while I walked, I was all wet. My pants were soaked with rain water! -.-" it is the first time I felt that I had just screwed myself up because of my wet clothes to go for an interview. I was terribly upset. I even had thoughts to forgo this interview. Then, I called out to God and asked God to stop the rain. Two seconds later, the HEAVY RAIN STOPPED IMMEDIATELY WITH SUN SHINING BRIGHTLY! Can you believe it!? Praise God! I was tremendously happy at that point of time! I was elated, overjoyed, ecstatic, thrilled, over the moon and etc. :D

After which, I continued to walk to find my way there. While I am on my way, I continue to ask a numerous working adults who were working around the area. As I walked, I realised that I have passed two bus stops. When I looked at the time, it was a minute to my scheduled interview time. Without hesitation, I called up my interviewer to tell them that I would be late. :( (This is the first time I am late for an interview.) Furthermore, I ask them for the venue again and I was told that I had overshot way too much. Oh no!

Then, I walked back. While I was walking, I still could not find the venue. :( Thus, I decided to take a cab reluctantly. I board the cab and told the driver the venue. However, the driver gave me a puzzled look because he does not know too. Hence, he told me to alight and ask the security guard beside us. I was really tired because everything seemed so wrong. However, I never gave up praying. I prayed even more. :) I remembered “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Upon asking the security guard, the security guy gave me the same puzzled look. He brought me to the receptionist to ask instead.

The receptionist showed me the way and told me that the building is just right besides the building I am in now. Finally, I found the building! Thank God! :D

I shall not talk about my interview.

Anyway, back to my story.

My journey from the MRT to my interview venue depicts our walk with Christ. There will be many trials and joys that we will face.

However, always remember this “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8) Just like how I asked God to stop the rain for me. :)

Sometimes you get really tired of everything that is going on with your life. An example would be how tired I felt when I could not find the venue for 30 minutes but I did not give up. Remember “…but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” (Mark 13:13) and “I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm 27:13-14)

One day, God will reward you. In the end, God send me a good Samaritan. If you hang on with your faith, live in righteousness, pray, do bible study and applying God words to your everyday life, you will be saved! “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:12) and “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.” (Luke 6:23)

May God bless you whoever is reading now.

#27. I See Love

Some see a teacher standing on a hill speaking words of wisdom.
Some see a healer reaching out his hand to give sight to a blind man.
Some see a dreamer wasting his life on what can never be.
Some see a fool dying for his dreams.

But I see love.
I see love, light of heaven breaking through.
Well, I see grace. I see God’s face shining pure and perfect love.
When I see you, I see love.

With your last breath I see love.
Through your death I see love.
I see peace in the eyes of the King.
I see hope in your suffering.
I see calm in the centre of the storm.
I see a Saviour.

Some see him walking away from an empty grave.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

#25. What is faith to you?

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)

These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. (1 Peter 1:7)

We live by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Faith is exactly what it takes to get through uncertainty. Faith is not necessary when you know how things are going to work out – that’s knowledge. It’s in the time of unknowing that having faith is what sees you through to the other side. Faith is what gives you strength. Faith is that light in your heart that keeps on shining even when it’s all darkness outside.

#24. Encouraging Articles

It is really encouraging to see how these Christians continue to keep their faith even though they were persecuted.

If the bible is not true, do you think so many Christians will continue to hang on to their faith even though they suffered so much?

#23. Does God exists?

Before I continue with my post, I would like to say a few words.
All that you have read from my “A Lesson A Day”, I urge you to always clarify with other Christian believers. Do not only listen and believe from only one source.

Everything that I have posted on “A Lesson A Day” are based on my understanding, reading and research.
If you disagree with what I have posted, please correct me. In this way, I will not continue to share wrongly. We can all learn God words together.

You need not be a Christian to read “A Lesson A Day”. I hope that you will be able to read it with an open mind. Then, go and find out the truth.

Continuing from yesterday’s post, you will have questions such as “Who created God?” or “How can I believe in God if I cannot see Him?” and etc.

Who created God?

If God is created by someone, He is not qualified to be called God because He would merely be an idol that is created by human. God is the Creator, self existent and one true God. He is the one from the beginning and till the end.

Many of us know that it is impossible for the physical world to come out of nothing. Without any doubt, the “first cause” is God who created the universe, the unique and Sovereign Lord. This explains why majority of the well known scientists know the Almighty Creator through His wonderful universe.

“I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God.” (Isaiah 45:5)

How can you believe in God if you cannot see Him?

You have to understand that if it is not visible to you, it does not mean that it doesn’t exist.

Let me give you some examples. You cannot see air, wind, radio waves, magnetic field, things in the spiritual realm with your naked eyes but you cannot deny their existence right?

Our five senses are used to make contact with the physical world but the spirit within is for knowing God.

Another reason is that we humans have sinned and gone far way from God.

When you sin, you are often paralysed with fear. What if you see the holy and righteous God face to face? Would you not lose your life?
When the holy and righteous God appears, He shall judge the sins of all humanity, can you stand before him?

There is only one way to be saved! Believe in Jesus and receive the forgiveness of sins. Only then can we know and accept God the Creator and live in His presence. Many people who have believed in Jesus have experienced and can testify to Jesus as the real and living God.

#22. How do you prove the existence of God?

I was reading a gospel handbook which helped me to prove the existence of God. It’s a pretty long explanation in the book. I will do a summary here instead. I am sure that there are many other ways to prove but I shall list down four. :)

1. Creation proves the existence of God

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20)
He is clearly revealed to all mankind through His Word, calling them to return to Him and embrace His great love.

Science does not create. It discovers. The more discoveries humans make, the more they are willing to humbly acknowledge their limitations and insignificance.

Einstein once said, “The infinite and transcendent God has revealed His existence through small things that even our feeble and limited minds could understand. I am fully in awe of this. It has certainly shaped my faith. Deep in my heart, I believe in a transcendent intelligence that is manifested in this incredible universe. It shapes my beliefs about God.”

Darwin also said, “I acknowledge that primitive life owes its existence to the Creator. If there is no ultimate first cause, it is impossible for the universe to exist.”

Things made by human are prone to error, accident and energy crisis. A Russian spaceship was destroyed due to a lack of fuel; an American space shuttle exploded after taking off. However in the universe created by God, billions of stars and planets move according to their orbits all the time. There has never been a problem with their orbits.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalms 19:1)

2. The human spirit proves the existence of God

God has created three kinds of life: plants, animals and humans.

Plants: a bodily existence.
Animals: a physical body and some functions of a soul but no spirit.
Humans: created in the image and likeness of God; beings with body, soul and spirit.

Furthermore, the Creator has given them a spirit for knowing Him and to have a relationship with Him. Human beings, who are created by God, have a spirit that allows them to have contact with the spiritual realm.

3. The existence of evil spirits proves the existence of God

I am sure that many of you have heard of reports concerning people being possessed by demons. This shows that there is spiritual realm beyond the physical world inhabited by people. However, when evil spirits hear the name of Jesus, they flee in terror. Victory in the name of Jesus is the experience and testimony of many Christians.

4. The experience of Christians proves the existence of God

Hello! Hello! Hello! I am one of them! Yes, if you are curious, feel free to come and ask me. I will be more than willing to share with you! :D

The numbers of those who believe in Lord Jesus has increased throughout the years and have personally experience the real and living Lord. This is a fact without dispute.

#21. Have Faith & Trust In God's Work

1. Things don’t necessarily go my way. I know these are tests from God.

A few days ago, I resigned. It was a really tough decision.

I am grateful that everyone in this company is all Christians. I am thankful that it was their words that soften my spirit and made me realised that it’s time for me to accept Christ. I am fortunate to know you guys who are willing to groom me.

There were many reasons that I am struggling whether I should leave or not.

I kept praying for an answer. Then, God gave me answers that I should leave. I thank God for answering my prayer.

Have faith and trust in God’s works.

Many asked me what I am going to do next. My answer: I will go wherever God leads me to. I have faith in God for I know that God knows what is best for me.

I was asked how I know if that is God’s plan and where do I find the courage to follow wherever God leads me to.

Here are a few bible verses to assure you:

i. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

ii. “God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

iii. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

iv. “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)

v. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

2. Last Sunday, Pastor Kelvin was sharing some bible verses which inspired me. Hence, I would like to share it with everyone who is reading:

i. “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)

ii. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

#20. Press On

There are many life challenges that we have to face and overcome.
When you feel alone and your heart is troubled, talk to God. Let the presence of God come to you and envelope you and bring you peace.
Alone with the Father is the only place to find the strength to press on.

#19. Ecclesiastes 12:1, 13-14

“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth…Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12: 1, 13 – 14)

#18. Seek Ye First

Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God
And His righteousness
And all these things shall be added unto you

Man shall not live by bread alone
But by every word
That proceeds from the mouth of God

Ask and it shall be given unto you
Seek and ye shall find
Knock and the door shall be opened unto you

#17. Don't Falter

Life is full of reversals and we are not excluded from disappointments that make us want to give up. However, Paul challenges us to keep running.

He told the Corinthians, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9:24)

We are to run faithfully, Paul is saying, spurred on by the knowledge that we run to honour our King and to receive from Him an eternal crown.

If we falter in our running, if we quit serving God or give in to sin because of our difficulties – we risk losing a rich reward we could have received had we run our best.

While running with patience the race for the King, with obstacles taking their toll, we slow down to look up for help from our Lord; He keeps us aware of our goal.

Greater than winning any medal will be hearing the Master say, “Well done!”
